YAMAHA SILENT CELLO

SVC-50 FOR SALE with PROSODY ACOUSTIC PEDAL

£1,475.00

I bought the instrument below with a view to travelling with it, for which it is ideally suited, but for various reasons that never happened and is no longer a relevant option for me. It is in excellent overall condition, and I have only used it at home for occasional quiet practice and never carted it round gigs or pubs. I put on the silly skull sticker as a reminder of which way up/round to open the bag! The sale includes everything shown in the images apart from an indifferent bow which I seem to have forgotten to photograph.

The Prosody pedal comes with a zillion IRs [Impulse Responses] which I will put on a memory stick and include in the sale together with the software and other info for the Prosody. You can load up to 16 IRs on to the pedal which are then selected as you wish by the rotatory selector switch. HERE IS A PDF LIST of the IRs I have. To amplify the instrument I used a Fishman Loudbox which I use for something else so if you want to use the Prosody or amplify the Yamaha you will need to get an amp if you don't already have one. Plugging into a hi-fi works but I found it unsatisfactory. Horses for courses and all that.

YAMAHA SVC-50 is designed with slimmer, compact dimensions that easily break down to allow the entire instrument to fit into a compact case for easy transport. While this model utilizes the same pickup system as found in the SVC110, the SVC50's leg supports are a single unit design that is easily removed from the instrument's alder body. The uniqueness of the SILENT Cello™ lies in its ability to place naturally full-bodied, nuanced tone in a rich, simulated concert hall acoustic environment without the need for external signal processing. An original Yamaha chip delivers eminently natural, warm reverb in three variations: Large Hall, Medium Hall, and Room.”

“Play Along, Connect to a Sound System. In addition to its many other features the SILENT Cello™ has an auxiliary input as well as line and headphone outputs. Connect an external source to the auxiliary input and play along, and/or connect the line output to an external sound system for live performance. The SVC50 is disassemble to fit in a compact carrying case for easy transportation. The SVC50’s leg supports can be easily removed from the instrument body. It offers fast, fuss-free setup, and in its performance configuration provides the player with a natural comfort and excellent support.” For more on the Yamaha SVC-50 see YAMAHA UK

PROSODY is the successor to the hugely popular vsound pedal, featuring a host of new features and capabilities demanded by our customers. Using impulse responses (IRs), it modifies the signal produced by any electric instrument (or acoustic string instrument fitted with a pickup), to match the timbre and voice of a high-quality acoustic equivalent. Prosody is complex piece of electronics, but it is very simple indeed to operate. Simply plug your instrument into Prosody, plug the output from Prosody into an amplifier or headphones, switch on and select an impulse response (IR), blender and effect.”

“Prosody comes with 16 pre-loaded IRs in its memory, and many additional ones are included with the software package for guitars, violin, cello, violas, upright basses and guitar cabinet (CAB) responses. There are even hybrid responses – IRs that are blends of cellos and violins, for example – which have been created specifically for string instruments with extended ranges.” For more on Prosody see Signal Wizard Systems
